Setup & help
Five minutes before you start the course or the workshop: what you need, the one boundary that binds everything, and the fallback when an account is not available.
This is a teaching aid, not compliance or legal advice. The boundary first, because everything else is optional and this is not: every exercise runs on synthetic or public material. No patient detail, no organizational documents, no credentials — not to test, not once, not lightly edited. The workshop accounts are consumer accounts and are not covered for patient data; the HIPAA module is the full picture. Review status: no clinician has reviewed this course yet. A review is scheduled.
The address to bookmark and share
This curriculum's home address is
rare-anthropic.wilhelmai.org — bookmark that, and use it when
you share the course with another collaborator. (The same site is also reachable at
rareanthropic-curriculum.vercel.app; both serve identical content.) The three
pages worth sharing directly: the course, the
workshop run sheet, and the printable
one-page summary.
What you need
- A Claude account you can sign into — in the guided workshop, your facilitator confirms the account arrangement on the day, including which plan you are on and for how long. If you are self-paced without an account, see the fallback below.
- A browser and about two hours — the guided session is 90 minutes; self-paced, budget the same with breaks.
- One empty folder on your machine — the first exercise creates
claude-practice; nothing else is installed. - Optional, on paper: the printable one-page summary — the boundary rules in handable form.
Two settings to find before you start
- Settings → Privacy → "Help Improve our AI models" — find it, read its state, change nothing during the workshop. The Retention exercise is built around it.
- The thumbs-up / thumbs-down controls — know where they are, and do not rate anything until the Retention exercise has told you what rating does.
If an account is not available
- In the workshop: pair with someone who has one — the pair format is a designed part of block 4, not a downgrade. Swap who types at each exercise.
- Self-paced: the reading path works without any account; the exercises can be read as worked examples (each includes its expected outcome and an example failure), and the self-check quizzes need no account at all.
- Never the fallback: borrowing someone's signed-in account without them present, or creating an account with organizational data in the first conversation.
Getting help
- In the guided session: your facilitator is the help contact — access problems, exercise questions, and anything this site cannot answer.
- Self-paced: questions this curriculum cannot answer belong on the open-questions register — bring them to the group rather than guessing.
- Something on this site looks wrong or outdated: that is the Cross-cutting exercise working — flag it to the group with the URL and what you saw.
